201​8 Legislative Session Agenda

Missouri’s legislature will officially convene January ​​3, 201​​8 and adjourns May ​1​8. The following agenda was approved by the MDA's Legislative and Regulatory Committee. In addition to these issues, the MDA's lobbying team will continue to monitor any legislation that would affect your profession. For a full list of the bills we are currently tracking, click here.  

Insurance Policy Reforms - Require PPO Listing Updates
The MDA will work with the appropriate agency(s) and/or seek legislation that mandates insurance companies to update their dentist provider list upon official notification of the provider’s change of participation status and/or change of practice address.

Medicaid Funding - Increase Provider Reimbursement Rates
The MDA will support legislation that would increase the rate at which the state reimburses Medicaid providers that provide dental services.

Medicaid Funding – Maintain/Increase Current Funding for Adult Dental Services
The MDA will support legislation that would restore funding for adult Medicaid dental services.

Dental Hygienist “Extended Access”
The MDA will continue to monitor the MDHA’s legislative efforts.

Donated Dental Services
The MDA will work with the appropriations committee and legislators to receive support for DDS funding in the state budget.

As a member benefit, all MDA members receive a “Capitol Connection” weekly recap of relevant legislative activity during the legislative session.

Your contributions allowed us to secure the time and attention of key players within the General Assembly in 2017. A two-year election cycle has the potential to bring many new faces to the General Assembly; the MDA has a lot of people to get to know.
