Direct Reimbursement (DR) is a employer-funded group dental plan in which the
employee is reimbursed based on a percentage of dollars spent for dental care
provided, which allows employees to seek treatment from the dentist of their
choice. DR is for groups and is not an individual plan.
Whether you're an HR benefits decision maker, a dental professional or a
consultant/broker, DR may be of interest to you.
Some of your patients may already have DR; all you might know is that
they are paying with cash, check or a credit card. By learning more about
DR, you can support those employers who use DR, as well as encourage other
employers in your patient base to consider this benefit option.
For Employers/Human Resource Managers
When insurance premiums are paid for every employee, the dollars can add
up quickly. But with DR, money is spent when care is received rather than on
monthly insurance premiums. A DR program can save administrative time as
well as money. It enables companies with fewer employees to offer quality
dental benefits without huge costs.
With reimbursement under traditional insurance plans, patients can be unpleasantly surprised with
their share of the bill. With DR, employees can know their share in advance, and without these
surprises, DR eliminates many of the misunderstandings and hassles
associated with other types of plans. Learn more on our
Insurance & Access page and ask your employer to consider Direct Reimbursement.
