Shred-a-Thon is a real cut up!

Every dental office with any age to it knows the hassle of old files. They are everywhere and they can't just be tossed in the trash. They require a complete and total shred. The entrepreneurial minds at GSLDS saw this need and came up with a great event for their members - a Shred-a-Thon!
I was still in town and able to witness and assist a little in this practical and easy exercise. Members registered prior to the event and listed how many boxes they would bring. Once they reached capacity (close to 700 boxes!) for the three hours, they shut down registration.
It was crisp, cool morning in the Delta Dental parking lot and the two Shred-it trucks were humming. Cars were met by cheerful volunteers who unloaded and staged boxes for shredding. Doctors were able to leave with a certificate of destruction. Music and snacks added to the festivity and camaraderie. Plus there was the added dimension of being able to donate old shoes to the Shoeman Water Project. They turn shoe donations into drinking water in underdeveloped African countries.
I gotta give a shout out to the whole GSLDS crew for a well executed event that was practical, charitable, easy, and fun. Let me know if your component or club is interested in hosting a shred-a-thon and I'll try to help you put it together.
