National Signing Day

If you want to compete at the highest level, you have to recruit at the highest level. You don't wait to rebuild. You constantly reload with top notch talent. Any big time university knows the importance of national signing day and so does the MDA and today was that day.
I was at UMKC as part of our National Signing Day where 4th year students can join MDA and effectively transfer their student membership into full MDA membership. This insures they don't pay dues through 2013. There was a buzz of as soon to be graduates signed on while also entering for a chance to win a free iPad. Below is one of the MDA's new recruits!
This was all part of our last Food for Thought program this school year at UMKC. Students from all class years filled the room and enjoyed pizza and wings while listening to guest speakers, Drs. Zust and Riordan. They did a lively father/daughter presentation about family practice that drew lots of questions. I was reminded of the need to share real life examples like this to our recruits. It helps them envision their future. And it doesn't hurt that both Dr. Zust and Dr. Riordan made an eloquent appeal to the importance of organized dentistry.
Stay active on the recruiting trail. We don't want our home grown talent going elsewhere. Let's reload with a top rated signing class!
