Welcome to the MDA, Elisha!

Posted by Paul on 12/19/2013 1:32:00 PM

Allow me to introduce the latest addition to the MDA staff, Ms Elisha Kleffner. She started this past Monday and will be assuming the role ofGraphic Design and ContentManager and report to Melissa Albertson, MDA's Communication Director. She comes to the MDA after a few years with the MO Department of Natural Resources. Her qualifications are impressive and her enthusiasm and work ethic will fit right in. Elisha is married to Jamie aka Snoopy (he and Vicki's husband, Tooter, can discuss the pros and cons of nicknames!). They live in Rich Fountain, Mo. Elisha was quite the softball pitcher for Fatima and helped them win back to back state titles. She went on to a good career at Missouri Southern and now spends a lot of her free time training aspiring young pitchers in mid Missouri.
You will see more of Elisha's work in the future. She's a valuable player in MDA's production of appealing print pieces and tools. She will also keep all the MDA news fresh and accurate across many platforms including the website and social media venues. Please welcome her when you get a chance to meet her or send her a note at Elisha@modental.org.

GKCDS Installation and Holiday Party

Posted by Paul on 12/9/2013 1:11:00 PM

The holiday spirit was in full swing last Friday evening at the GKCDS Award Banquet and Officer Installation dinner. The Plaza was lit with festive lights, the weather was a wee bit chilly, and everyone donned their gay apparel as they decked the halls with fa-la-las!
Well, it was very close to that and I was privileged to join the large turnout and mingle with MDA members both familiar and new to me. Sam Silvey, the GKCDS executive director, worked with her officers to pull off a wonderful evening. The cocktail hour and meal were first class and filled with good conversation as friends and colleagues had a chance to leisurelyvisit with each other. The evening was capped off with an impressive 4-5 song set fromthe well harmonized quartet, Salty Dogs.
In between all that there was a business meeting that included honoring life members, installing new officers, and presenting outgoing President, Dr David Suchman with a plaque commemorating his service. His flair for humor sits well with me and I was honored to represent the MDA and thank Dr Suchman for his leadership. Unfortunately the photo from that monumental presentation was a bit grainy so Dr Suchman does not get the star treatment he deserves. I apologize.
Here are some other photos from the night. You will see MDA President and KC's own Dr Merle Nunemaker installing the officers: President Dr Dustin Burleson, President-elect Dr Jeremy Bowen, Vice President Dr Mac Darnall and Secretary Treasurer Dr Sam Hayes. Drs Roberson, Raman, and Bowen all brought their wives to the event. Dr Kelly Suchman enjoys a moment chatting with the dapper Dr Mac Darnall and his wife, Kara. Outgoing President Dr David Suchman does get some limelight with outgoing board members, Drs Mac Darnall,Bruce Cummings, and Steve Irwin. And finally, Dr Jeremy Bowen and wife, Christi are serenaded by the Salty Dogs.
Kudos to all the GKCDS members for a great year and best wishes for asuccessful 2014!
