The Forsyth Board of Aldermen at their regular meeting last night voted to keep fluoride in the city water. That was the positive first line in an email this morning from Julie Schanda, Dental Division Manager at the Taney County Health Department. You can read the local news report here.
While this is great news in itself, I'd like to highlight the power of teamwork. Julie had contacted the MDA at the end of October for assistance as she gathered information to present to the city council. Dr Lori Henderson who had just been through a big vote in Columbia was eager to jump in and help. Dr Jody Vance, the MDA trustee in the area, provided some guidance. The Pew Charitable Trust and the Missouri Coalition for Oral health also provided key resources. They all worked together and the outcome was positive for the oral health of thousands of citizens.
These shared resources and teamwork are perfect examples of the value of MDA membership. You are not alone!
